05.01.2008 : Coffee of the Month for May - Panache Sumatra Blue Lintong
Sumatra Blue Lintong is a distinctive and
memorable coffee, offering a smooth, rich flavor
delivered in a full-bodied, low acid cup.
- The coffee is processed differently
–
Rather than having the coffee fruit and seeds
separated in modern mills, the indigenous growers
of Lintongnihuta still process and dry the coffee
in the traditional hand-processed manner, resulting
in extra body and flavor in the cup.
- The coffee is named for its distinctive
blue-green color before roasting
- Grown at over 4,000 feet above sea level near
the small town of Lintongnihuta –
at the southern shores of beautiful Lake Toba in
north-central Sumatra
- Ranging north to south, Sumatra is only about
100 miles wide but elevations range from sea-level
to more than 12,000 feet high
- Sumatran topography creates a microclimate that
is perfect for growing fine Arabica coffees
