More Cupping in Rwanda and the King's Hut

Paul Songer has the process for this project mapped out really well. He also has an excellent awareness of statistical data. Seven primary coffee growing regions in Rwanda had been identified as potential appellations. Last year, the panel, with deep experience in this sort of cupping (descriptive cupping that is) narrowed this down to three by cupping each numerous times over the year and coming to the conclusion there are three three primary character differences. Our goal over the past couple of weeks has been to cup the three regions and begin to identify the primary characters of each. The process is simple and less specific than one would think, but it is critical all the data is collected properly and consistently from test to test.

Rwanda is an amazing country, with even more amazing people. I learned the other day that it was not ok to look at the King’s hut without paying 200 francs. Well it was 200 to take a picture too, so I paid up the 400 and took the picture, which is attached.

Gotta run, dinner is on!
